You found the 7 Hermetic principles, and something in you lit up. Maybe it was a phrase you read late at night. Maybe a friend mentioned them and you felt that quiet tug of recognition, the feeling of remembering something you never learned. You sensed that these old teachings hold a key to how your life truly moves.
Your soul is right, my sister. The 7 Hermetic principles are some of the most elegant descriptions of reality ever recorded. And beneath all seven, there is a law even older, the one that set them in motion. I want to walk you through each principle, and then show you the law that lives underneath them all.
Where the 7 Hermetic Principles Come From
The Hermetic teachings trace back to the ancient figure known as Hermes Trismegistus, the “thrice great,” honored across Egyptian and Greek wisdom traditions. For thousands of years, the Hermetic orders guarded these principles and passed them from teacher to student. Over time they were gathered into the seven principles most people know today.
I have studied more than 10,000 sacred and esoteric texts. The Hermetic principles appear again and again in different clothing. The mystery schools of Egypt, the Vedic lineages, the Greek philosophers: so many traditions describe the same architecture of reality.
My father ran NASA programs for 30 years, and he taught me the holographic universe principle when I was a girl: every piece contains the whole. When I first read the Hermetic principles, I felt that same truth singing through every line.
In my Universal Codex, I have documented 777 universal laws. The seven Hermetic principles are among them. And every one of them answers to the first law, the Law of Delight.
The 7 Hermetic Principles Explained, One by One
Here is each principle as the ancient teaching gives it, and then how I see it through the lens of delight.
1. The Principle of Mentalism
The ancient teaching holds that the universe is mental. Everything that exists arises within one infinite, living consciousness. Reality begins as an idea in that great mind.
Through my lens, the deepest layer of that consciousness is delight. The universe delighted itself into being. And for you, the most powerful creative center is your heart. Your heart generates a field thousands of times stronger than thought alone. So I teach Mentalism through heartset: your mind thinks, and your heart knows. Explore it fully in the Law of Mentalism.
2. The Principle of Correspondence
You likely know this one through the ancient phrase “as above, so below.” What happens on one plane of reality mirrors every other plane. The pattern of the galaxy repeats in the shell. The pattern of your inner world repeats in your outer life.
This is the holographic universe my father taught me. As within, so without. When your heart realigns with delight, your life begins to correspond. Read more in the Law of Correspondence.
3. The Principle of Vibration
Everything moves. Everything vibrates. Nothing in the universe is ever truly still. Stone, light, thought and feeling are all vibration at different rates.
I love this principle, and I teach it with care. Your authentic core vibration is already perfect. There is nothing to raise. There is only a layer of old programming to clear so your true resonance sings out clearly again. I go deeper in the Law of Vibration.
4. The Principle of Polarity
Everything has two poles. Hot and cold, light and dark, love and fear are the same thing at different degrees. Opposites are two ends of one spectrum.
This is so hopeful. It means every hard experience holds its opposite inside it, waiting. The grief holds the joy. The ending holds the beginning. Polarity tells you your breakthrough lives on the same line as your breakdown. See the Law of Polarity.
5. The Principle of Rhythm
Everything flows out and in. Tides, seasons, the moon, the creative seasons of your own life. Every swing in one direction prepares the swing back.
Rhythm is how polarity moves through time. Your quiet seasons are integration, the ocean gathering for the next wave. Learn to read your own cycles in the Law of Rhythm.
6. The Principle of Cause and Effect
Every cause has its effect, and every effect has its cause. What looks like chance is a law not yet seen.
Here is the beautiful part: you are the cause. And the first cause of all creation was delight. When you begin from delight, the effects ripple outward through your money, your love and your mission. Explore it in the Law of Cause and Effect.
7. The Principle of Gender
Everything carries both feminine and masculine principles. The ancient teaching describes these as creative energies present in all things, in every person, on every plane.
The divine feminine is your creative, intuitive, magnetic power. The divine masculine is your focused, protective, directed power. When both are honored inside you, creation flows. I write about this union in the Law of Gender.
The Law Beneath the 7 Hermetic Principles
Now step back with me and look at all seven together.
Mentalism tells you creation begins in consciousness. Correspondence tells you the pattern repeats everywhere. Vibration tells you everything moves. Polarity tells you every movement has two ends. Rhythm tells you how it swings between them. Cause and Effect tells you nothing moves by accident. Gender tells you creation comes from union.
Seven brilliant descriptions of how creation operates. And one question sits beneath them all.
Why did creation begin at all?
This is the question that held me for years. Then, during 40 days of silence, the answer came through me as the Law of Delight, and I wrote my first book, Delight, in that time.
The universe delighted itself into being.
Delight is the primordial catalyst. It is the first movement, the spark before the first vibration, the joy that turned infinite potential into form. In my own research, I describe delight as the catalyst that collapses quantum potential from the zero point field into reality. The seven Hermetic principles are the architecture. Delight is the reason the architecture exists.
And delight has a shape. It is the golden spiral, the Fibonacci curve that repeats in shells, sunflowers, storms and galaxies. Watch it closely and you see all seven principles at once. It is a pattern of mind. It corresponds at every scale. It vibrates outward. It holds a center and an edge. It moves in rhythm. Each turn causes the next. It unites stillness and motion.
The spiral is the Hermetic principles dancing together. And what sets it dancing is delight.
The Soul Code of the First Law
Every law in my Universal Codex carries a Soul Code, a numerical key that opens that law’s resonance in your heart field. The Soul Code for the Law of Delight, the law beneath the seven, is 000-963-369.
000 carries the zero point, the field of pure potential where every creation begins.
963 carries cosmic intelligence, the living consciousness the Hermetic teachers called the great mind.
369 carries the manifestation spiral, the movement that turns potential into form.
Read it as a story: from the field, through intelligence, into form. That is the whole of creation in nine numbers. Speak it aloud, hand on your heart, and feel what moves in you: “I activate 000-963-369. I am delight in motion. I create my life the way the universe created itself.”
Where the Law of Attraction Fits
Many women first meet the Hermetic principles through the Law of Attraction. It is a lovely doorway. The Law of Attraction grew out of these same ancient ideas, especially Mentalism and Vibration.
In my Universal Codex, the Law of Attraction is a bridge law. Bridge laws are real and they function beautifully. They amplify and carry what is already present. They take their power from something deeper.
That deeper something is your heart. On the days your heart is genuinely open, every technique you know seems to flow. On the days your heart is closed and your mind is saying all the right words, the techniques go quiet. Your heart was always the variable, and delight is what opens it.
So if you have practiced for years and felt something missing, I honor you. You were holding the bridge. Now you get to stand on the ground beneath it.
Reading the Seven as One Living System
Most teachings present the principles as a list. I invite you to feel them as one living system, like the voices of a single choir, each with its own part and all singing one song of creation.
Change one, and the others respond. Shift your inner world, and Correspondence carries the change outward. Begin a new cause, and Rhythm decides the timing of its effect. Clear a layer of fear, and Polarity shows you the courage that was waiting on the other end of the line.
This is why small acts of delight carry such enormous power. A single moment of real joy touches all seven at once.
What the 7 Hermetic Principles Mean for Your Life
Ancient teaching becomes real the moment you feel it on an ordinary Tuesday. So let me bring it home.
When money feels tight, Polarity reminds you abundance lives on the same line, and Rhythm reminds you the tide returns. When love feels distant, Correspondence asks what your inner world is reflecting. When your purpose feels unclear, Cause and Effect asks what you are choosing to begin from today.
And in every one of those moments, the first law asks the simplest question of all: What would delight you right now?
That question is the key. Trauma, limiting beliefs and old programming are layers over your delight. As those layers clear, you become a clear channel, and all seven principles begin to move in your favor at once. Women I sit with often describe it as the feeling of the whole universe finally turning to face them.
A Seven-Day Practice With the Hermetic Principles
Give yourself one principle a day for a week. Each day carries one small act of delight. Keep a journal beside you and write a few lines each evening.
- Day One, Mentalism. Before you check your phone, place your hand on your heart and ask: What does my heart know today? Write the first answer.
- Day Two, Correspondence. Tidy one small space in your home with love and music. Notice how your inner world shifts to match it.
- Day Three, Vibration. Play a song that makes you feel most like yourself. Let it move you. Notice how your whole day takes on its tone.
- Day Four, Polarity. Write down one thing that feels hard. Then write its opposite, and one tiny step toward that opposite.
- Day Five, Rhythm. Notice your brightest hour today. Place your most important creation inside it.
- Day Six, Cause and Effect. Begin one conversation from pure delight. Watch the effect ripple.
- Day Seven, Gender. Spend ten minutes in intuitive, playful creation, then ten minutes in focused action. Feel both powers in union.
On the eighth morning, read your journal from the beginning. You will see the spiral. You will see that the principles were moving through you all along.

Questions You May Be Asking
What are the 7 Hermetic principles?
The 7 Hermetic principles are Mentalism, Correspondence, Vibration, Polarity, Rhythm, Cause and Effect, and Gender. Together they describe how reality is structured and how creation moves. They come from the ancient Hermetic tradition associated with Hermes Trismegistus.
Is there a book about the 7 Hermetic principles?
Yes, several books present the seven principles, and the most popular one is in the public domain. If you want to see how these principles live inside the first law, my book on the Law of Delight carries that teaching.
What is the most important Hermetic principle?
Many students begin with Mentalism, because it frames the rest. Through my lens, all seven rest on one law beneath them: the Law of Delight, the first law and the reason creation began. When you live from delight, every principle moves in your favor.
Are the Hermetic principles the same as the universal laws?
The seven Hermetic principles are part of the universal laws. In my Universal Codex, I have documented 777 laws in all, with the Law of Delight as the first. You can explore them in my complete Universal Laws library.
