History of the Law of Delight: The Secret Hidden in Plain Sight

The history of the Law of Delight is a story that hides in plain sight. I know, because I spent 30 years following it through more than 10,000 sacred texts spanning 5,000 years of human wisdom. Every mystery school, every tantric lineage and every great sage I studied pointed to the same living force: delight. If you have ever wondered how to manifest a life that feels as good on the inside as it looks on the outside, your answer begins here.

For generations, authors and teachers have called the Law of Attraction the secret key to manifestation. That idea created endless confusion. The Law of Attraction is a real law. It is a bridge law, and it points toward something older and far more powerful. The real secret is the Law of Delight. It always has been.

Today I take you through the hidden story of this law, the teachers who spoke of it in parable and allegory, and the simple truth they all shared. By the end, you know exactly why delight is the first law of creation and how to activate it in your own life.

Why the History of the Law of Delight Stayed Hidden

We humans love to take something simple and make it exceedingly complex. Look at the last hundred years. What universal law has been written about, debated and complicated more than the Law of Attraction?

Here is what I see. The Law of Attraction operates on the weak bonds and weak universal forces, the basics you meet in quantum physics. It teaches the very first lesson of creation: your choices carry consequences. That lesson matters. It is the alphabet and the counting, the preschool of reality creation.

The Law of Delight is the whole library. It is our divine promise and the most powerful creative force accessible in the universe. For thousands of years it lived in allegory and parable, loosely pointed to in all but the most esoteric teachings of the ancients. The sages kept it for initiates. Only after a student proved capable and responsible enough to hold this infinite source of creative power did the deeper teachings open.

If you are reading this, I sense you are ready for a quantum leap in your life. You came for the library.

My Path Into the Secret Teachings

I have been devoted to the real secrets of reality creation for more than 30 years. In that time I have studied over 10,000 sacred texts across 5,000 years, from ancient philosophical teachings to secret spiritual writings focused on advanced topics and initiations. What I found there blew my mind.

Deep inside those teachings, I met the Law of Delight. I was activated to teach it through a series of divine initiations and energy transmissions from the Akashic Records. Since then, my work has been to bring it out of hiding and into your hands, in plain language you can use today.

Here is the truth that changed everything for me: every mystery school I studied, including those of Ancient India and Ancient Egypt, taught the Law of Delight. It appears in secret tantric texts and in Egyptian mystical writings and hieroglyphics, always taught through parables and lessons that show its raw power to create and to destroy.

The Law of Delight states: “Delight yourself fully in life and you will fulfill all your heart’s dreams and desires.” It is the primordial first universal law, the source law among more than 777 universal laws. You can read the full foundation on my About the Law of Delight page.

Bodhai, the Laughing Buddha of Delight

One of my favorite chapters in the history of the Law of Delight belongs to Bodhai. He lived long after Siddhartha. He carried the teachings of Buddhism through laughter, joy and delight, and people opened to him wherever he went.

Today he is still revered as the Laughing Buddha, as Maitreya and as the Buddha of Good Fortune. He never wrote a single word down. Many Buddhists today know very little about him or about why his mission flourished where so many before him struggled. I know why. He taught delight, and delight spreads.

Even the Heart Sutra, one of the most beloved texts in Buddhism and rooted in tantric wisdom far older than its own time, speaks of an effortless pathway to enlightenment. Effortless. That word carries the signature of delight.

The Tantric Radiance Sutras and the Middle Way of Delight

In the Tantra of Wonder, Awe and Delight, a god and a goddess speak together. In their discourse, the great revelation arrives: delight is the ultimate pathway to manifestation, healing, enlightenment, bliss, release and effortless abundant living.

Much of what the West misreads about tantra comes down to this. Delight is the fastest path to enlightenment. Delight held without wisdom also becomes the fastest path to devastation. That is why the teachings guide you along a middle way, one that holds both the left and the right path, Delight and Moderation, so you keep your footing on the stairway and stay far from the abyss.

This is the heart of mastery. Delight is power. Power asks for presence.

The Real Secret Behind the History of the Law of Delight

In the deepest mystery schools and secret texts I studied, I found zero teachers who named “like draws like” as the basis for all creation or manifestation. That idea became a phenomenon only in the last hundred years.

There are more than 777 universal laws, and many of them move in directions the “like draws like” theory never accounts for. As you study the advanced principles, you see immediately why the Law of Attraction has such a narrow application. It describes one current in a vast ocean.

Look back far enough and you find the Law of Delight in nearly every ancient civilization, tribal lore, philosophy, mystery school and mythology. It is the golden thread running through all of them. If you want to see exactly how the two laws relate, read my guide to the Law of Delight and the Law of Attraction side by side.

What Philosophers and Poets Said About Delight

Once you see delight, you find it everywhere in the great minds of history.

  • Plato called delight the only stairway to heaven.
  • Aristotle called it the most authentic movement of the soul when it experiences itself in another form, a mathematical operation of utter perfection.
  • Seneca taught that we experience it fully only in what we share with another.
  • William Blake cautioned that yearning for it while refusing to act on it breeds our own demise.
  • Charles Baudelaire wrote that a single moment of its priceless experience is worth an eternity of damnation.
  • Alan Jacobs named life without it a grievous loss.
  • J. B. Priestley called it the path to happiness.
  • Paul Claudel counseled that intelligence and knowledge without it are worthless.
  • Alan Cohen taught that you find truth more quickly through its power than through any other force in the universe.

Entire philosophies rose around its incomparable creative power. The great world religions began with its life-changing miracles. Some of our largest companies and nonprofit organizations grew out of its catalyzing force. People move mountains and manifest miracles because of its impact on their lives. Esoteric mysteries arose from its elusive, ecstatic nature. Artists, actors, musicians and performers stretch the edges of human imagination to spark it in their audiences. People have gone to impossible lengths simply to immerse themselves in its embrace.

Delight Across the Sacred Traditions

The thread continues through every tradition I touched.

In Pueblo Native American philosophy, the Great Delight Maker created life out of a desire for delight. In Islam, delight is a Garden where every desire, hope and dream bears fruit eternally. In the ancient tantric scripts I was blessed to read in ashrams and temples, every wave and particle in the universe vibrates instantly in alignment with the frequency of delight, creating and re-experiencing more delight.

The mystic Hildegard of Bingen, in the Liber Divinorum Operum, the Book of Divine Works, begun in 1163, described a personal revelation: the microcosm of the human being reflects the macrocosm known as God, and through it splendor, grace and above all delight are immediately magnified.

Children know this path by instinct. Watch a child at play and you see the oldest teaching on Earth in motion. The sages and mystics pointed us down a path so deceptively simple that every child already follows it. Children remember what most adults have set aside.

Why Delight Feels So Far Away

We humans feel both intrigued by the power of delight and afraid of losing ourselves in its depths. And giving yourself fully to delight is exactly what activates it.

Look at how most of us live. We overwork. We stress. We stack up theory and knowledge, possessions and accumulations. We carry trauma, chaos and anxiety in direct proportion to how hard we fight our own divine promise. We try to fix, heal and improve ourselves to feel worthy. All of it is a search for the one thing that lights us up and lifts us beyond a mundane existence, a thing that feels beyond words and beyond description.

That one thing is delight. Without it, life feels empty, shallow and fractured. With it, life opens. This is why I call the Law of Delight the fastest, simplest and most natural path to spontaneous personal transformation in the universe. It also asks for mastery, because the same force that creates can also consume. Learning to hold it well is the work. If old pain sits between you and your delight, my Phoenix Rising course guides you through that rebirth.

How to Manifest With Delight: Steps You Can Take Today

The history of the Law of Delight matters because it points straight back to you. Here is how to manifest with delight, starting today.

  1. Name one delight. Write down one thing that lit you up this week, however small. A song, a meal, a conversation, a patch of sunlight.
  2. Feel it in your heart. Close your eyes, place a hand on your heart and relive that moment for sixty seconds. Let the feeling fill your chest.
  3. Ask the sacred question. Ask yourself, “What would delight me today?” Write the first answer that rises.
  4. Take one delighted action. Do one small thing from that answer before the day ends.
  5. Walk the middle way. Notice how the delight feels in your body. Keep what nourishes you. Release what drains you.
  6. Record what shifts. Note any synchronicity, idea or opening that appears within 24 hours. This becomes your evidence.

Here is the most important part of this whole story. You contain within you the most powerful, catalyzing, unstoppable and miraculous creative force in the universe, manifested in physical form. You are a sovereign creator. You are the Law of Delight in a body.

The ancients hid this truth in parables because they knew its power. I share it openly because you are ready for it.
