Learning how to heal from betrayal begins with coming home to yourself, gently, one minute of delight at a time. I know, because I am living it.
Eleven years. That is how long I gave my whole heart and my whole soul to one relationship. Then, a little over a year ago, the truth came out in pieces, and it shattered far more than the relationship. It shattered my identity, my faith in myself, my faith in anyone.
I have healed from a lot in this life, including being trafficked and abducted, and financial and gambling betrayals with past partners. I thought I knew how to come back from anything. This one ripped the rug out from under me. My heart physically broke three separate times; doctors call it heartbreak syndrome.
So I tell you the truth first, dear one. I am still healing. I am writing to you from inside the process, right alongside you.
Here is what I know about how to heal from betrayal. Betrayal shatters the way you see yourself, so we go gently. We gather the pieces of you back one at a time and bring them home.

Cocooning Is Sacred
For almost a year, I pulled away from nearly everyone. I stayed home with my cat, barely ate, barely slept, and cried every day. Making coffee sent me into tears because coffee was our ritual. I had always been the strong rock everyone leaned on, and for the first time I learned to ask for support.
A caterpillar inside the chrysalis dissolves completely into a kind of soup before it becomes a butterfly. That is what deep healing feels like: messy, sometimes quiet, sometimes rageful. If you are in your cocoon right now, rest there for a while. It lets your wounds knit back together. Then, little by little, step back into community. Your broken heart sends out an SOS signal, and the true healers in your life feel it.
And trust me on this. You will outgrow the chrysalis. One day it feels too small, and you press against the walls. Those are your wings. I wrote Phoenix Rising: A Sacred Journey to Reclaim Your Feminine Power for exactly this season. If you are in the ashes right now, that book is your companion, and so is this piece on how to rebuild your life after loss.
Reclamation Is a Spiral
You may have heard that a feeling takes only 90 seconds to pass. Grief keeps its own clock. Some days I still cry on the drive to the grocery store.
Reclamation is a spiral. Grief is a spiral. Healing from betrayal is a spiral. And it moves exactly the way delight moves, starting with one little seed. Pet your cat. Sip your tea. Breathe. Reclaim one small part of your power.
Every turn of this golden spiral carries you past the same places, and every turn you are a little higher, a little wiser, a little more connected to yourself. In my experience, a long betrayal takes about a quarter to half the length of the relationship to heal fully. Give yourself that grace.
Betrayal Is Trauma, So Treat It Like Trauma
Betrayal lives in your nervous system. You learned that the person meant to protect you is the one to fear, and that wound deserves real care. So my most urgent invitation is this: find trauma-informed support, a qualified therapist or healer who deeply understands betrayal trauma. These are modalities I have used and seen my clients love:
- NLP to rewrite the “why wasn’t I enough” loops.
- Hypnotherapy to reach beneath your conscious mind.
- TMS (transcranial magnetic stimulation), with a qualified medical provider, when depression or prolonged grief has its hands around your throat.
- Psychedelic-assisted therapy, only with a qualified provider. Results vary greatly from person to person.
- TRE (trauma release exercises), gentle qigong and restorative, trauma-informed yoga, so the stress can shake out.
- Dance, to joyful music.
- Bioresonance with a trauma-informed practitioner, to steady your nervous system while you rest.
Clear every song tied to that person from your playlists for a while; your mind wants to pain shop. Then nourish yourself tenderly: warm baths, Epsom salt foot baths, a weighted blanket when grief or panic rises, an ice pack on the back of your neck, bone broth and green juices, and your favorite bioenergized oils from Alchemyst Co. Sealed With Gold
There is an ancient Japanese art, kintsugi, where a broken vase is sealed with gold. The gold lets your light shine out and lets new light pour in. So we seal you with the gold of wisdom, of the lessons, of your truth, your vulnerability and your joy. Speak to yourself the way you would speak to a little one who fell off a bike and feels scared to ride again.
One morning, you make the coffee you love and the tears stay away. One day you laugh so hard on a date that you surprise yourself and everyone in the room. It happened for me. It happens for you. Each of those moments is a piece of you reclaimed. Seal each one with gold.
For the tender days, give yourself Create Your Oasis Within, my 23-minute guided meditation. My free Law of Delight Movie has nothing to buy, and many of my clients play it on repeat all night.
When you are ready for a deeper reset, The Shift is my breakthrough 1:1 session, where we realign what is holding your heart.
Why You Still Reach for the One Who Hurt You
Checking their profile. Sending paragraphs. I have done this many times, so I hold deep compassion for it. The real reason is relief more than closure. Your system bonded to this person as both the danger and the comfort. People call it a trauma bond. I see a deep energetic cord between you, and a single cord-cutting ceremony rarely clears it. Ground yourself first, and know this craving passes.
Real repair asks full accountability of the one who betrayed you, and reconciliation without accountability is a place I simply cannot meet. So honor your boundaries, and teach yourself a new source of deep relief: you. What you delight in, your people, your practices, what you create. What someone chose to do to you belongs to them. You created the safety and security in that relationship. Now you give it to yourself.
Your Anger Is Sacred
As a manifestation teacher, I will never ask you to deny your rage. People call it low vibrational. I see it as powerful energy, because through that fire you finally declare, “Never again.” It is how you draw your line in the sand, as I shared in S2 E3 | How to Manifest Fast, Even From Terrible Circumstances.
“Anger and rage are sacred. They’re your boundaries finally speaking up on your behalf.”
Let it move through you and out. Scream into a pillow. Take a kickboxing class. Then aim that fire straight at what you want to create. Underneath the rage lives grief. Honor both. Your rage becomes your boundaries, your clarity and your self-respect returning.
You Heal in Minutes of Delight
If I can give you one piece of this whole episode, it is this: you reclaim your power in your delight, and you heal in minutes. One minute of sunshine on your face. One minute playing with your cat or your child. One minute mixing up a favorite meal you have left untouched for years. One minute leaning back in the tub with a deep sigh: “I am here now.”
Minute by minute, your power returns. This is the heart of my book Become the Goddess of Your Universe, and of everything I teach. You cannot teach what you have not lived.
Your power was always yours. Now you set the rules and decide who comes with you. Betrayal only made you forget where you put your power, and it is coming back to you piece by piece.
Clear the Reminders and Loosen the Loop
Box up the gifts, the photos, the hoodie. Archive the texts onto a little drive tucked somewhere hard to reach. Mute and block what triggers you.
When the rumination starts, catch it gently. Say “I’m looping. Stop,” or “White light, I am safe.” Snap the rubber band from episode three. Blow bubbles and watch each memory pop. Name three things around you that delight you, or jump around for 30 seconds to the silliest song you can find.
How to Heal From Betrayal: Your Practice for Today
Your assignment this week
- Collect five small delights every day, a minute or two each.
- Write each one down the moment you find it.
- Every time the loop starts, refocus with one small physical delight.
You are spiraling upward, even on the days it feels like a thousand steps back. When you are ready to go deeper, Awaken the Infinite Within You, my 53-minute guided activation, reconnects you to your whole radiant self.
Calling your power back (5 minutes, at home)
- Lie down somewhere soft, one hand over your heart and the other over your lower abdomen.
- Breathe in for four, hold for four, out for four. Repeat three times, then breathe naturally with your eyes closed.
- Picture yourself in a field of light that feels safe, like home. Then picture every place you left pieces of yourself: the home you shared, the years you gave, the parts of you that went quiet to keep the peace.
- See a golden thread of light running from your heart to each of those places.
- Say out loud: “I call my power back. I call back my joy, my trust, my voice, my laughter. I call back every piece of me, cleansed, cleared, renewed and home to me now.” Watch each thread spiral home, carrying a glowing piece of your heart.
- Declare: “I am coming home to myself. I honor my grief. I honor my anger. I honor my rage. I honor my healing. From this minute forward, I choose what delights me, one day at a time.”
The letters ritual (later this week)
- Write a letter to each person who betrayed you: the rage, the grief, the questions, the truth. These letters stay with you. Print any love letters, texts or emails that still burn.
- Outside, in a fire-safe bowl, read each one once. Say: “I release this now. Thank you for the lesson. I call my power back home to me.” Then burn it, one at a time, at the pace your heart sets.
- Gather the ashes in a jar of water with your favorite oil, herbs or tea. At a river, stream or lake, say: “Everything I gave away comes back to me tenfold,” and pour it into the flowing water.
- Then go straight to something that delights you: a bath, a favorite meal, a dance, a little ice cream.
