It happens in the smallest moments. Someone raises their voice and you feel six years old again. A friend forgets to call back and an old, familiar ache opens. You succeed at something big and a tiny voice whispers that it will all be taken away. You are a grown, capable, brilliant woman, and still, some part of you is waiting to be chosen. This is where inner child healing begins.
That part of you is your inner child, my sister. And inner child healing is the moment you finally turn around, kneel down, and meet the child within you face to face. I want to walk you there today, gently, through the gateways I guide women through in my sessions.
You are so welcome here. So is the little one inside you.
What Is Inner Child Healing?
Your inner child is the living memory of who you were before the world told you who to be. It holds your earliest wonder, your first fears, your purest joys and the wounds you were too young to understand.
Inner child healing is the process of reconnecting with that younger self, hearing what was never heard, and giving the love, safety and delight that were missing. It is a soul-level realignment. As the child within you feels seen, the patterns that child has been running in your adult life begin to dissolve.
Here is what I find most wondrous about it. Your inner child holds your original delight.
Watch any small child for five minutes. They delight in puddles, in bugs, in the sound of their own laughter. They spin in circles until they fall down giggling. They have zero need to earn joy. That pure, unguarded delight is the same catalyst the universe used to create itself, and you were born overflowing with it.
Your delight is unique as a thumbprint. Your inner child remembers its exact shape.
Why Inner Child Healing Changes Everything
I teach the Law of Delight, the first universal law. The universe delighted itself into being, and delight is already present in you. Nothing to raise. Nothing to perform. Nothing to become.
So why does it so often feel far away?
Because life laid layers over it. A parent who was too tired to play. A teacher who shamed your questions. A home where it was safer to be quiet. Each moment taught your younger self a rule: be small, be good, be useful, be invisible. Those rules became beliefs. Those beliefs became programming. And that programming still runs in your adult life today.
It shows up as people-pleasing, as overgiving, as the fear of being too much, as the reflex to apologize for taking up space. It shows up in money as the belief that you must earn every dollar through exhaustion. It shows up in love as the ache of waiting to be chosen.
Many women carry what I call Negative Energy Addiction, a pattern that replays the old pain because the old pain feels familiar. Your inner child learned that pattern as survival. That child was brilliant. That child kept you safe. And now you get to show the little one a new way.
This is the heart of trauma-informed transformation: we strip the layers so your original delight shines through again, and you become a clear channel for the life you came here to create.
Inner Child Healing Through the 12 Emotional Gateways
In my sessions, I guide women through 12 emotional gateways. Each gateway holds a layer of feeling that was frozen at a particular moment, often in childhood. When a gateway opens, the child within you finally gets to feel what was too big to feel back then, and then let it go.
This is why gateway-based inner child realignment moves so deeply. You go straight to the gateway where your younger self is still standing, waiting. You meet the child there. You offer what was missing. And the gateway clears.
Think of it like a house with twelve rooms. Some rooms are full of light. Some have been locked for decades. Your inner child lives in one of the locked rooms, holding the key, hoping someone comes. Inner child healing is the moment you knock, gently, and say: I am here now. I came back for you.
Each gateway you clear returns a piece of your delight. And with every piece, your heart field grows stronger and clearer.
Your Tiny Mind, the voice of ego and fear, has spent years guarding those locked rooms. Your Giant’s Heart, the voice of your soul, has always known the way in. Your heart is 10,000 times more powerful than your mind. When you let your heart lead this process, the rooms open with far more tenderness than you expect.
How Your Inner Child Shows Up in Real Life
Once you know the child is there, you see the little one everywhere. Here is where the women I sit with feel it most.
In Love
If you grew up earning love through good behavior, you may still perform in your relationships. You give and give and wait for someone to notice. Betrayal lands like the oldest wound, because it is touching the oldest wound. If this is where you are, I wrote about it with great love in how to heal from betrayal and come home to yourself.
In Money
Your earliest money memories live with your inner child. Overheard arguments about bills. The feeling of wanting something and being told to stop asking. Those memories become your money story. When the child within you feels safe with money, money begins to feel safe with you.
In Self-Worth
Self-doubt is often a child’s voice wearing your adult clothes. It says: who do you think you are? It says: stay small, it is safer. When you recognize that voice as your younger self, you can answer it with love. I go further in how to overcome self doubt and become unstoppable with delight.
In Self-Sabotage
When something wonderful arrives and you find yourself pulling away, the child within you is often protecting you from a loss it once lived through. The sabotage is love in disguise. Meet it with understanding, and it softens. Read more in how to stop self sabotage and free your power.
In Your Shadow
The parts of your younger self that were shamed often go into hiding. Your anger, your wildness, your big loud joy. Those hidden parts become your shadow. Inner child healing and shadow realignment walk hand in hand, and I write about bringing every part of you home in the shadow self.
In the Way You See Your Own Story
Your inner child sees your life from a child’s height. A shut door looked enormous. A harsh word felt like the end of the world. When you look back at those moments from who you are today, they take on new meaning. That shift in vantage point is one of the most tender gifts of inner child healing.
I teach a practice where you look at a heavy belief three times: once as your Higher Self, once as your Inner Child, and once as your Present Self. Each voice knows something the others missed. You can find it in the Law of Relativity. When the child’s voice finally gets its turn, the whole story softens.
And here is the wonder in it. As you meet your younger self, you also discover how much light that child carried. The curiosity. The courage. The wild imagination. Those gifts were never lost. They were waiting for you to come back and collect them.
A Practice: Meeting the Child Within
This is a gentle inner child healing meditation and ritual. Give yourself 30 quiet minutes. Find a photo of yourself as a child if you have one. Bring a journal and a pen.
- Create a soft space. Light a candle. Wrap yourself in a blanket. Put on quiet music. Let this feel like a place a child would love to visit.
- Look at the photo. Gaze at your younger self for one full minute. Notice the eyes. Notice what that child was feeling. Place your hand on your heart.
- Close your eyes and walk to the gateway. Picture a door in a hallway of light. Behind it, your younger self is waiting. Open the door slowly. See the child look up at you.
- Kneel down and speak. Say, out loud or in your heart: “I see you. I am here now. I came back for you. You are safe with me.”
- Ask and listen. Ask the little one: What do you need me to know? What did you love most? What made you laugh? Let the answers come in images, feelings or words. Every answer is welcome.
- Write a letter. Open your eyes and write to your younger self. Tell the child what you know now. Tell the child how loved, how wanted and how delightful they always were.
- Plan a delight date. From the answers you heard, choose one thing your inner child loved, and do it this week. Swing on a swing. Color. Dance in the kitchen. Eat ice cream on the porch. This is where the realignment lands.
Close with this phrase, hand on your heart: “My inner child is safe, seen and delighted. Together we remember who we are.”
Return to this practice once a week for a month. Each time, the child within you trusts you a little more, and the gateway opens a little wider. If you love to be guided, my podcast guided meditation for getting in sync with the universe is a soft way to begin each session.
Questions You May Be Asking
How do I know if I need inner child healing?
Look at the patterns that repeat. People-pleasing, fear of abandonment, harsh self-talk, overreacting to small slights, or feeling like a child in adult situations all point back to your younger self. Every woman carries an inner child, and every inner child longs to be met.
What is an inner child healing meditation?
It is a guided inner visit where you picture your younger self, offer love and safety, and listen to what the child needs. The practice above is one you can do today. Done regularly, it softens old patterns and returns your natural delight.
Is inner child healing the same as inner child therapy?
Inner child therapy is a clinical approach offered by licensed therapists, and it is a beautiful support if you carry deep trauma. The realignment I guide is soul-level transformation through the emotional gateways and the Law of Delight. Many women find the two complement each other wonderfully.
How long does inner child healing take?
Many women feel a shift after the very first meeting with their younger self. Deeper layers clear over weeks and months as each gateway opens. The process unfolds in its own sacred timing, and every step returns more of your delight. If you want to see where to begin, my guide on how to find joy after trauma walks you through it.
The Child Within Is Waiting for You
