There is a part of you that you keep in the back room. The part that gets jealous. The part that wants more than you admit. The part that flares up in anger and then apologizes for days. The part you learned, very young, to hide. This is your shadow self, and it holds more delight than you know.
I see that part of you, my sister, and I love it. This is what shadow healing truly is: welcoming every hidden piece of you home, with so much tenderness that it finally feels safe to come into the light.
Your shadow self holds pain, yes. It also holds your power, your wildness, your boldest desires and some of your brightest delight. Those treasures went into hiding together, and they come home together.
So come sit with me. Nothing in you is too much for this light.
If you have spent years being the good one, the easy one, the one who holds it all together, this is for you. You deserve to be loved in full color. Every shade of you. And that love begins right here, with you turning toward yourself.
What Your Shadow Self Is
This is the practice of meeting the parts of yourself you have hidden, denied or judged, and bringing them back into the whole of who you are. Across many ancient traditions the same truth appears: wholeness is where your power lives.
Your shadow self formed for a beautiful reason. At some point, a part of you was met with shame, punishment, rejection or silence. So you tucked it away to stay safe and loved. That was wisdom. It kept you going.
Here is how I hold it through the Law of Delight. The universe delighted itself into being. Delight is the first law, the law that rules all 777 universal laws I have documented. Your delight is already present in you, as unique as your thumbprint.
Trauma, limiting beliefs and old programming sit like layers over that delight. Your shadow lives in those layers. And under every layer, delight is still glowing, waiting for you.
If you are new here, the Law of Delight, explained is the foundation beneath everything I teach.
Your Shadow Holds Hidden Delight
This is the part of shadow healing that almost no one talks about, and it is my favorite.
When you were told as a little girl that you were too loud, your joy went into the shadow along with your volume. When you were told as a young woman that your ambition was unattractive, your desire hid too. When you were taught that wanting is selfish, your sacred longing went into the back room.
So your shadow holds far more than your wounds. It holds your voice. Your appetite for life. Your laughter at full volume. Your fierce, unapologetic desire.
Desire is sacred. Every desire you buried is a piece of your Mission I’mPossible waiting to be remembered. When you bring your shadow home, you bring your delight home with it.
A Trauma-Informed Path Into the Shadow
I hold shadow healing with deep care, because many of the parts you hid were hidden for very good reasons. Some of them carry real pain.
So we go gently. We go at the pace of trust. You never have to tear anything open. You simply turn toward a part of yourself with curiosity and love, and let it show you what it needs.
In my sessions, I guide women through 12 emotional gateways, and every gateway holds a piece of the shadow. Each one opens when it feels safe. Each one releases something old and returns something precious.
If your shadow holds trauma, please be tender with yourself and move slowly. My guide to trauma-informed transformation walks the complete path back to delight, and healing trauma spiritually shows you how to find light in your darkest places.
How Your Shadow Shows Up in Real Life
Your shadow self speaks every day. Once you learn its language, you see it everywhere, and every sighting becomes an invitation.
In Your Triggers
When someone irritates you far beyond what the moment deserves, your shadow is speaking. The intensity is the clue. Often the other person is living a quality you were taught to hide.
In Your Envy
Envy is one of the most generous messengers in your shadow. It points directly at a desire you have buried. When you feel it, ask: what do I truly want here? That answer is gold.
In Money
Many women hold shadow stories about wanting wealth. Greedy. Selfish. Unspiritual. When those stories surface, money often slips away just as it arrives. Bringing your desire for money into the light changes the whole pattern.
In Love
In relationships, your shadow shows up as the parts you fear your partner will discover. You perform the easy version of yourself and keep the rest hidden. True intimacy begins when you love your whole self first, so that being fully seen feels like coming home.
In Repeating Patterns
When the same painful pattern keeps replaying, I often see something I call Negative Energy Addiction. Your heart grows familiar with certain painful feelings and reaches for them out of habit. The shadow keeps the loop running until it is seen. My article on how to stop self sabotage at the root goes deeper into this.
Bringing Every Part of You Home
Shadow integration happens through love. You turn toward a hidden part, you listen, and you welcome it back.
This is where your heart leads. Your heart is 10,000 times more powerful than your mind. I call this heartset. Your Tiny Mind judges the shadow and wants it gone. Your Giant’s Heart embraces it and wants it home.
Every time you welcome a part home, your heart field becomes more coherent. You become a clearer channel. Transformation strips the layers away, and what remains is the truest, brightest, most whole version of you.
Much of your shadow formed in childhood, so this healing often meets the little one inside you. My guide to inner child healing is the perfect companion as you go.
The Law of Polarity teaches that every quality holds its opposite, so your darkest edge holds your brightest gift. And the Law of Reflection shows you how the people and patterns in your life mirror the parts of you that are ready to come home.
Your Shadow and the DELIGHT Roadmap
Shadow healing lives inside every step of my DELIGHT Roadmap, and I love how naturally it unfolds there.
It begins with Decide Your Dreams & Desires. When you name your Mission I’mPossible, your shadow often answers right away. The voice that says you are asking for too much is a shadow voice, and now you can hear it clearly.
Then come Enlightened Epiphanies. These are the moments when you suddenly see a pattern you have lived for years. The epiphany is the shadow stepping into the light, ready to be known.
Love & Light follows. You meet what you have seen with tenderness, and the space the old pattern held fills with something new.
Inspired Intuitive Action is where your reclaimed parts start to live. The voice you hid speaks up in a meeting. The desire you buried gets a yes. The wild part of you dances at the wedding.
Growth & Gains appear as evidence. Higher Focus & Awareness keeps you steady when old patterns knock. And Total Transformation is what you become when every part of you is home.
Alignment needs something to align to. When your hidden parts know they are coming home for a reason, for your mission, for your joy, for the life you are creating, they come home faster.
A Shadow Journaling Ritual From Delight
Here is the practice I give for shadow healing. Give yourself thirty unhurried minutes, a journal, a candle, and something warm to drink. Go slowly. Stop whenever you need to.
- Delight yourself first. Spend two minutes on something that makes you smile. Delight is your anchor. It reminds your heart that you are safe here.
- Place your hand on your heart. Speak: “Every part of me is welcome here. I meet myself with love.” Breathe slowly until you feel steady.
- Name one trigger. Write about a recent moment when you felt a reaction far bigger than the situation. Describe it without judgment.
- Ask what it protects. Write: “What part of me was hurt here? How old does this part feel? What did this part learn it had to hide?”
- Find the hidden delight. Write: “What desire, gift or joy is hiding alongside this pain? What did I love before I learned to hide it?”
- Welcome it home. Write a short letter to this part of you. Tell it what you see in it. Tell it that you love it. Invite it back into your life.
- Close with delight. Read your letter aloud, then do one small joyful thing your hidden part would love. Dance, sing, eat dessert first. Let delight seal the homecoming.
Repeat this ritual once a week. Over time, the back room empties, and the whole house fills with light.
You may notice that the parts you welcome home start showing up in sweet, surprising ways. A laugh that sounds like your childhood. A boldness in a conversation that would have frightened you a month ago. A desire you finally say out loud. Celebrate every one of them. Each is a piece of your delight, back where it belongs.
For more questions to open your pages, my manifestation journal prompts pair beautifully with this ritual. And if betrayal sits at the root of your shadow, the podcast episode Healing From Betrayal: Coming Home to Yourself holds you through it.
Questions You May Be Asking About Your Shadow Self
What is the shadow self?
Shadow healing means meeting the parts of yourself you have hidden, judged or denied, and welcoming them back into your wholeness. Through the Law of Delight, it also means recovering the delight, desire and power that went into hiding with your pain. It is a homecoming.
What should I put in a shadow journal?
Write about your triggers, your envy, your repeating patterns and the parts of you that you hide from others. Then ask what each one protects and what hidden desire lives beside it. Always close each entry with something that delights you.
What are good shadow prompts for beginners?
Begin with gentle questions: “What part of me did I learn to hide as a child? What do I envy in others, and what does that show me I want? What would I do if no one could judge me?” Write slowly and stop whenever you need to. Gentleness is the fastest path in.
Is shadow healing safe if I have trauma?
Shadow healing is safest when it moves at the pace of trust. Go slowly, anchor yourself in delight before and after each session, and stop whenever you feel overwhelmed. If deep trauma surfaces, give yourself loving support from someone trained to hold it.
Every Part of You Belongs
Come back to that back room. The door is open now. The jealous part, the angry part, the wanting part, the loud and wild part: every one of them is welcome in the light.
You are whole, my sister. You always were. I am so delighted you are here, bringing every part of yourself home.
