How to Be Creative in Everyday Life: Be Delightfully Creative Every Single Day

How to Be Creative in Everyday Life: Be Delightfully Creative Every Single Day

You are creative. Every single person is. Maybe you stopped believing it somewhere between school, work and the long list of responsibilities. Maybe you think creativity belongs to artists and musicians. Learning how to be creative in everyday life returns you to one of the most delightful truths there is: you are a creator by nature, and every day is a fresh canvas.

In Brief
How can I be creative in everyday life?
Bring delight into ordinary moments: cook without a recipe, write a few lines, make up songs, rearrange a space or solve problems playfully. Dr. Isis Jade recommends fifteen minutes of goal-free creation each day, beginning with one small delight.

This is the seventh and final secret in my book Seven Secrets to the Spontaneous Fulfillment of Your Heart’s Desires: Be Delightfully Creative Every Single Day. In this guide I bring it together with the teachings on creation from The Law of Delight. You will learn what everyday creativity really means, why your creative spark fades, what blocks it, how to tap into your creative energy, ten simple ways to create every day, how creativity carries your desires into form and two practices to start today.

What Does It Mean to Be Creative in Everyday Life?

Everyday creativity is the art of bringing something of yourself into whatever you touch. It lives in the meal you cook, the way you dress, the words you choose, the problem you solve at work and the game you invent with a child. It is the practice of letting your delight shape your day.

When you create from delight, you feel alive. Time slips away. Ideas flow. That feeling is your soul expressing itself, and it is available to you every single day.

You Are a Creator by Nature

In ancient teachings, the Universe came into being through an act of cosmic play. It was born from a desire to express itself and to delight in its own potential, and it keeps expanding because it is drawn toward ever more delightful acts of creation. You are made of that same creative force.

This is why the Law of Delight has a second expression:

Delight yourself in acts of creation, and your creations will give you the desires of your heart.

Creativity is how your desires move from imagination into form. Each time you create with delight, you align with the force that shapes galaxies.

Why Your Creative Spark Fades

I don’t really care for the word discipline. To me it feels heavy, like a ball and chain you drag behind you. Discipline can create resistance when it is aimed at something out of alignment with your spirit. So I give you permission to play.

Most of us were conditioned to work hard, persevere and listen to others over our own inner guidance. Creativity became something to practice and perfect, judged by teachers, parents and grades. I lived this as a child, practicing piano for hours a day until the instrument I loved felt like torture. Years later, jamming with a band “just because it’s fun,” I discovered how effortlessly creativity flows when it is play. You can read that full story in how to have fun again as an adult.

As children, we followed our feel-good voice naturally. Your creativity is still right there, waiting for that same invitation.

What Blocks Creativity?

  • Pressure to perform: needing everything you make to be good, useful or impressive.
  • Perfectionism: waiting for the perfect idea, time or skill level before you begin.
  • Comparison: measuring your first steps against someone else’s masterpiece.
  • Exhaustion: running on empty leaves little energy for play.
  • Old wounds: one harsh comment about your art, singing or writing can echo for decades.
  • A negativity loop: attention fixed on what is wrong crowds out imagination. Learn more about breaking the negativity loop.
  • Forcing: straining for ideas pushes them away. Creativity loves ease. Explore how to stop forcing things in life.

What Causes a Lack of Creativity?

A lack of creativity is almost always a lack of delight. When life fills up with obligation, stress and other people’s expectations, the playful part of you goes quiet. Nothing is broken. Your creative spark simply needs space, safety and joy to come back out.

How to Tap Into Your Creative Energy

Start with delight

Before you create, choose one small delight and feel it fully: a song, a scent, sunlight, a memory. Delight opens the channel. Creativity flows through it.

Play first, produce later

Give yourself time to make things with zero goals. Doodle. Hum. Rearrange. The best ideas often arrive in play.

Let epiphanies come to you

Epiphanies rarely appear while you strain for answers. They arrive in the quiet hours of the morning, in the shower, on a walk or while doing something completely unrelated. Relax your mind and expect a spark of divine inspiration. When it comes, write it down immediately.

Move your body

Dancing, walking and stretching release stuck energy and loosen your thinking. I often dance to loud music to clear my mind before I create.

Feed your senses

Beauty inspires beauty. Spend time in nature, visit art, listen to music you love and surround yourself with colors and textures that delight you.

What Chakra Holds Creativity?

In energy traditions, creativity is most often associated with the sacral chakra, the energy center just below the navel, linked to pleasure, flow and creative expression. The throat chakra carries the expression of your creations into the world, and the solar plexus gives you the confidence to share them. Whichever practice you use, delight is what awakens them all.

Ten Ways to Be Creative in Everyday Life

  1. Cook something new without a recipe, and let your senses lead.
  2. Dress for delight. Choose one piece each day that makes you smile.
  3. Write a few lines a day. A poem, a story, a letter or a single delightful sentence.
  4. Make up songs in the car or the shower.
  5. Rearrange a space. Move a lamp, a plant or a piece of art and see your room with fresh eyes.
  6. Take photos of beauty you notice on an ordinary walk.
  7. Solve a problem playfully. At work, ask “What would make this fun?”
  8. Tell stories with children and let them steer the plot.
  9. Garden or arrange flowers, creating with living color.
  10. Create a Delight Map for a dream, with drawings, symbols and colors.

The Power of One Comment

In Manifest Your Dreams I write about how a single insulting comment from a teacher, made years ago, can make a creative, artistic person stop trusting their own instincts. It can affect an entire life, even after you know the teacher was wrong.

If you carry a comment like that, you are in good company. Many people who say “I’m just not creative” are actually carrying an old wound. Your creativity is intact. It simply learned to hide. Naming the comment, recognizing it as one person’s opinion and choosing a new belief opens the door again.

Your Inner Child Is Your Creative Self

As children, we followed our feel-good voice naturally. We painted without worrying about the result, sang loudly, made up games and created entire worlds from cardboard. That child still lives in you, and she or he is your most creative self.

Reconnecting with your inner child might look like finger painting, playing with clay, making a fort with your kids, singing in the car or dancing in the kitchen. The goal is pure enjoyment. Every time you play like a child, your creative channel opens a little wider.

Creativity and the Fear of Judgment

Sharing what you create can feel exposing. What if people laugh, criticize or ignore it? Remember that you can create purely for yourself. Many of the most joyful creations are never shared at all. When you do feel ready to share, start with one supportive person, then widen the circle gently. Read more about fear of being judged.

Creativity at Work

When my client Claire shifted her business focus to what delighted her, creating products, sharing new ideas and connecting with people, her business took off within about four months. She began sharing her ideas openly, and opportunities multiplied in directions she never expected.

Another client, David, rediscovered his love of creative problem-solving at work. When he gave his energy to the parts of his job that delighted him, his stress dropped and his team became more creative and productive too.

Try asking yourself the question I gave one of my business clients: “What brings me joy in my work right now?” Then give that part more of your time. Creativity follows delight.

Creativity Is How Your Desires Take Form

In the DELIGHT Pathway from my book, your dreams and desires spark epiphanies, love clears the way, and inspired action carries your desire into the world. Creativity lives at the heart of that flow. Every time you create with delight, you are rehearsing the act of manifestation itself.

Bring delight into whatever you create. Cook with delight. Write with delight. Run your business with delight. When delight lives inside your work, your work becomes magnetic, and what you create carries you toward everything you desire. Discover more about how to receive the desires of your heart.

How Do You Get Your Creativity Back?

If you feel you have lost your creative nature, begin gently. Remember what you loved creating as a child. Release the need for anything you make to be good. Give yourself fifteen minutes of creative play each day for a week. Notice what delights you and follow it. Your creativity returns the way a garden returns in spring, one small bloom at a time.

A Creative Rhythm for Your Day

Morning

Place a hand on your heart and ask, “How can I invite more delight into my day?” Write down one creative intention, such as “notice beauty,” “try a new recipe” or “sketch for five minutes.”

Midday

Take a five-minute creative pause. Doodle, hum, photograph something beautiful or rearrange your desk. Small creative moments refresh your energy for the rest of the day.

Evening

Spend fifteen minutes in delightful creation, then write three things you appreciated about your day. Let your mind drift toward tomorrow’s creative possibilities as you fall asleep. Many epiphanies arrive in the quiet of the night and early morning.

Create Together

Creativity multiplies in good company. Cook with your partner, paint with your children, write songs with friends or start a monthly creative night. When I jammed with a band as a teenager, the joy came from making music together. Shared creation deepens connection, sparks laughter and brings out ideas none of you would have found alone.

Practice One: Fifteen Minutes of Delightful Creation

  1. Choose your medium for today. Paper, paint, music, words, food, movement or anything that calls you.
  2. Begin with delight. Spend one minute feeling something that delights you.
  3. Set a fifteen-minute timer and create with zero goals.
  4. Follow every impulse. If it feels fun, do it. If it feels heavy, change direction.
  5. Stop when the timer ends, however unfinished it feels.
  6. Write one sentence: “Today I delighted in creating…”

Repeat daily for seven days, and notice how ideas begin finding you throughout the day.

Practice Two: The Epiphany Catcher

From The Law of Delight: promise yourself that you will keep an open mind and heart to receive a spark of divine inspiration. Keep a small notebook or a notes app ready at all times. Every time an idea, image or insight arrives, capture it immediately, however small. At the end of each week, read your collection and circle the sparks that delight you most. Choose one and bring it to life.

Practice Three: The Seven-Day Creativity Reset

  1. Day one: write a list of everything you loved creating as a child.
  2. Day two: choose one and do it for fifteen minutes.
  3. Day three: try a creative medium you have never used.
  4. Day four: create something for someone you love.
  5. Day five: make something deliberately imperfect and enjoy it.
  6. Day six: spend an hour somewhere beautiful and capture what inspires you.
  7. Day seven: look back at the week and write what delighted you most. Plan to do more of it.

Practice Four: Rewrite the Old Comment

  1. Write down any comment that made you doubt your creativity, and who said it.
  2. Write how old you were and how it felt.
  3. Now write what you would say to your younger self in that moment.
  4. Write a new belief, such as “I am naturally creative and I create for joy.”
  5. Create something small today as a celebration of that new belief.

Common Creative Blocks and How to Move Through Them

  • “I don’t have time.” Fifteen minutes is enough. Creativity grows with consistency.
  • “I’m not good at anything creative.” Skill grows with practice, and delight never needed skill.
  • “I don’t know where to start.” Start with whatever is closest to hand: a pen, a pan, your voice.
  • “I start and never finish.” Finishing is optional. Enjoy the process.
  • “I feel silly.” Silliness is a sign your inner child is waking up. Welcome it.

The seventh secret in Dr. Isis Jade’s book Seven Secrets to the Spontaneous Fulfillment of Your Heart’s Desires is to be delightfully creative every single day, because delighting in your acts of creation brings you the desires of your heart.

Can creativity support manifestation?

Yes. In the Law of Delight, creating with delight is one of the most direct ways your desires take form. Each delightful act of creation aligns you with the creative force of the Universe.

Can anyone become creative?

Yes. Every person is creative by nature. Creativity shows up in countless forms, from cooking and conversation to problem-solving and art. Practicing playful creation daily reawakens it.

Pressure, perfectionism, criticism, busyness and years of focusing on obligations can quiet creativity. It never disappears. Play, delight and small daily practices bring it back.

A creative block is a period when ideas feel stuck or expression feels hard. It often comes from pressure, fear of judgment or exhaustion. Rest, play and goal-free creation usually loosen it.
